Our niche & why it may be vital for you
We have always been operating at the intersection of corporate strategy and entrepreneurship. Some call it innovation, open innovation, or entrepreneurship.
What we have come to realize is that it doesn’t matter what you call it as long as you take action. We talked about this before here, so we’ll spare the redundancies.
There was a point in Workinlot’s journey when we felt compelled to talk, design, and champion corporate strategy or innovation strategy with our clients.
One of our very first deliverables was the “future of mobility” strategy design workshop at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in İstanbul.
Workshop experience proved two things:
- The insight we deliver is valuable and actionable
- We are able to deliver regardless of corporate strategy, innovation strategy, or an innovation governance
We help companies engage with startups and R&D companies, hand-picked and relevant to their immediate needs.
These immediate needs are derived from multiple places, at the very top being strategy and strategic objectives.
Such objectives are rarely unique. Top strategists and strategy houses use different wording and categorization or format to push the message across.
Which company can currently claim that digital, sustainability, new business models, talent, supply chains, etc. are not on part of their pressing agenda items?
Such a list gets longer if the company or the strategist prefers to be more granular. For example, you can see the cloud, AI, cybersecurity, and more instead of digital. Or you can see the environment, communities, net-zero, etc. in stead of sustainability.
On some strategic objective lists, you see innovation.
Now is innovation a strategy or a mindset/framework utilized to achieve the objectives?
Long story short, not all companies are unique in terms of strategic objectives. Whatever they are, engaging with startups and R&D companies helps.
Every company is unique in its set of realities and resources. That’s why there is not a one size fits all approach to ensure engagement. That’s why we always supplement the core process on every single case.
Our niche is knowing how to ensure engagement and how to adopt the engagement process for unique cases.
We designed and ran corporate accelerators. We defined the roles and responsibilities of the engagement management organization, we mentored and created mentor pools, we helped communicate challenges to wider audiences, and we participated in and managed the governance board.
We did and will continue to do all this to support the core engagement process.
